Clothes are sized by chest and back length. Measure around the widest part of the chest, then along the spine from the base of the neck to the base of the tail. Check both: on a long dog they can point to different sizes.
| Size | Chest | Back length |

| XS | 11.0–12.6 in | 7.1–8.7 in |

| L | 17.3–18.9 in | 13.0–14.6 in |

Fit questions
Still wondering?
Still not sure? Send us a side-on photo and three measurements and we'll help you choose.
Email usWhy are my harness and clothing sizes different?
Harnesses are sized by chest. Clothes are sized by chest and back length, and on a long dog those can point to different sizes, even within one piece. That's normal: the size finder on each product page shows both.
What if my dachshund is between sizes?
Email us a side-on photo and the three measurements. We'll recommend a size. For harnesses, the chest matters most.
Should my dachshund stand or sit while I measure?
Standing, head up, looking forward. A treat just in front of the nose helps.
